Australians are notoriously patriotic as is well known and the guys at Sneaker Freaker live up to this reputation and the team have repeatedly used their heritage to inspire a number of their collaborations over the years. Their latest joint effort and 15th anniversary drop is this vicious Diadora V7000.
This is Sneaker Freakers first Partnership with the Italian brand and in terms of collabs once again draws its inspiration from Aussie wildlife. Who could forget the New Balance “Tassie Devil” and the “Tassie Tiger” to name two standouts? The Diadora effort uses the notorious Taipan as its source material which appropriately is one of the deadliest snakes in the world. The silhouette’s upper is constructed from suede and nubuck in sand and olive respectively with 3M heel accents, SF’s penchant for violet comes through in perfectly balanced highlight accents. There is texture added across the upper with desert speckle and embossed ‘snakeskin’ panels.
The tongue section is black suede and the Diadora logo is reinterpreted to incorporate the them of the silhouette cleverly using the usual font and tweaking it to read Taipan. The squiggle one would usual see is here represented as a gold snake.
The silhouette is finished on a gradient midsole and pink accented fangs adorning the outsole and luminescent 3M ‘snake’ laces made by LaceSpace.
Keep your eyes on Sneaker Freaker for the release, there will also be a limited store release through Footlocker EU.
